The Comeback of the Bob

What does every hot celebrity have in common right now? They’re all chopping their hair into 2023’s most stylish short-hair trend: The Bob. Hailey Bieber debuted her new bob haircut on the feed, and her fan base went nuts. Yep, pretty much every fan of hers is cutting their hair off. Bieber isn’t the only beautiful face wearing the bob. Other celebs like Miley Cyrus, Jenna Ortega, and Kourtney Kardashian are also rocking the cut. I’ve never had short hair, but recently, all of these celebrities have been tempting me. I’m not going to do it—even though I should.
Even in 2023, the bob is an eternally chic hairstyle. Throughout time, the bob has been in and out of style, but it always manages to make a comeback. Maria Spolador, a 19-year-old hairstylist at Dream Haus Hair Boutique, gave her input about the various short styles making an appearance in 2023. “Megan fox recently just cut her hair into a textured bob with fringe, and it’s going viral…this look is breaking the internet and is going to be changing the trends for 2023. I see a lot of my clients going for a shorter look to switch it up. The Megan Fox look is great for many face shapes since you can customize it with a face frame and fringe.” said Spolador.
The endless number of ways to style a bob is why the cut dominates other kinds of short styles. Spolador described her favorite way to style a bob. “...I use a paddle brush and wrap the brush around the head, using the head shape to get a smoother look. Then I will finish the look with a one-inch barrel to create a wave, and then take a flat iron to the ends, creating a beachy look,” said Spolador. With so many variations to choose from, there's no doubt you will find the perfect bob style to suit your preferences. Spolador recommends Pretty Gang Texture Spray and Pretty Gang Blowout Balm to help style your bob.
One of my favorite bob cuts, the stacked bob, is a cute and spunky cut that will be seen on many this upcoming year. It’s called a stacked bob because, well, as you can guess, there’s a stacked layer at the back of the hair. It’s a tightly layered short hairstyle that is meant to create volume. Stars like Beyonce and Rachel McAdams have previously worn the style, and they looked great!
Anyone can wear this style, but it really accentuates the features of a long oval face. I asked Spolador for a second opinion about which face shapes fit this style best. “Rounder faces look best with a longer bob to elongate their face,” said Spolador. This haircut highlights the cheekbones and a rounded jawline. This is trendy and fashionable, and I’m certaintly considering ending my long-hair era.
Another favorite of mine is the blunt bob, which gives off a lively feel. What’s different about this cut is that there are no layers, unlike most haircuts. It is a straight and edgy style that will definitely cause heads to turn. I don’t know about you guys, but I think my confidence would boost by a mile with this bob. Look how ultramodern and sophisticated Irina Shayk looked with the blunt bob!
There’s really no convincing needed; it’s time to make that drastic change and slay the legendary bob haircut.
