Saint Laurent’s SS25 Was an 80s Collaboration of Sexy and Masculine

Saint Laurent’s spring/summer 2025 collection was everything you could want for a fall wardrobe. Outside of the fall vibes for a spring collection, Anthony Vaccarello has created a sexy and heavily 80s-inspired collection.

Held in the courtyard of Saint Laurent HQ’s in Paris, the collection was a tribute to Yves Saint Laurent himself, echoing in his Fall 2024 menswear. The collection oozed the YSL house codes of sexy and masculine. “No other House is as linked to a quintessential female archetype as Saint Laurent, whose ideal woman is more complex than the seductive perfection of classic muses,” the show notes read.

Several celebrities were in attendance, including actors Rami Malek and Bruna Marquinez, Vogue’s Anna Wintour, musician Lenny Kravitz, and influencer Devon Lee Carlson. Models such as Iris Law, Carla Bruni, Lila Moss, and Jasmine Tookes were also in the front row.

Most of the collection featured leather bomber jackets and oversized, baggy, beige, gray, and black suits that men working on Wall Street in the 80’s would die for. Although repetitive, the suits featured bold and structured silhouettes tailored to perfection, highlighting the striking blend of masculine elements on feminine models.

The second half of the collection showcased tightly fitted sparkly mesh dresses paired with lace-ruffled turtlenecks adorned with exaggerated clown collars, shimmering cropped coats with floral embellished patterns, and ruffled skirts. The standout color palette featured bold color blocking with rich jewel tones—deep oranges paired with vibrant teals and royal blues, while plum purples contrasted beautifully with shades of forest and lime green.

Featuring shoulder pads, one of the most iconic staples of the 80s, the collection brought a retro twist with modern tailoring. Most jackets boasted a structured, wide silhouette, nodding to YSL’s 80s collections.

The sleek and vintage vibes of the collection were enhanced by jewelry featuring gold bangles, long beaded necklaces, and large gold statement hooped earrings with jewels in the center.

“The Saint Laurent woman loves to indulge in darker penchants, an attraction to danger and pleasure she proudly owns in her modern agency,” says Vaccarello.
