Your Gym Crush is Just Motivation

Just as you set down the weight, you lock eyes with the cute brunette by the shoulder press. Heat runs through your cheeks as your gazes catch. Butterflies fill your stomach, and you're forced to look away. What started as a dreaded leg day has now become excitement to return to the gym tomorrow.

Following New Year's and (usually unachievable) goal-making, the gym is a top priority, but the motivation quickly dwindles. Getting out of bed in the morning to do cardio or fighting the exhaustion at the end of the day is the most difficult part and usually results in defeat.

But sometimes, the inevitable gym crush is the only thing keeping that motivation alive. However, a rookie mistake commonly made is acting on it.

In a recent viral TikTok by fitness influencer @BakedKat, she discusses a heartbreak over her gym crush. According to her, he lacked interest while she gave him all her energy and confessed her feelings. Since posting the video, she has received a lot of criticism from people online, saying that she should have never acted on it. In the video, she discussed how she had an emotional day at the gym because of it.

This is a great example of what acting on the gym crush can lead to if not reciprocated. Not only was she unable to enjoy her workout, but it's now become hard for her to continue going to that gym.

Now, I am not saying that you should never act on your crush, but if you think there's a good chance you're getting played, do not do it.

Just imagine it: you get attached, it doesn't work out. And now you have to go to the gym the next morning and face your heartbreak. And most likely, that will diminish any motivation you have to go to the gym.

The best way to go about having a gym crush is to simply use them as your motivation to keep going to the gym. Pick a cute outfit, do your hair and makeup, and make yourself feel pretty. Then go get in that workout and enjoy a little eye candy too. Innocent flirting here and there never hurt anyone, either.

Gym crushes can be fun, but they shouldn't ever be given the power to ruin your workout or even your favorite gym. Use them as motivation to get there, and you'll always have a little pep in your step instead of dreading leg days.
