What to Wear This Valentine’s Day

No matter what you have planned for this upcoming Valentine’s Day, this holiday has an abundance of room for creative expression. If you’re looking for an excuse to explore bright colors and fun shapes, your opportunity is here. Heart prints, tulle dresses, or neutral pinks can make the day enchanted whether you are celebrating solo or not. We’ve included some 2022 V-Day outfit inspiration for however you plan to celebrate this year.

1. Dinner date

If you and your partner are taking the classic route for Valentine’s Day with a night out to dinner and you’re looking to take the night in an eccentric direction, red and pink color blocking is always a fruitful exploration. If you are gracing the city’s trendiest restaurant or are keeping it quiet and classy, a bold pink with a red accessory contrast can be a little bit more spirited than your go-to black dress. But, if you’re looking at keeping it classy and muted with a twist, the incorporation of a glove look can take your outfit to the next romantic aesthetic level.

This is your perfect excuse to wear that article of clothing that has been deemed “too bold” against the rest of your wardrobe. This is your excuse to go crazy with bright colors and whimsical detailing!

A simple black dress paired with gloves or a pink or red accent can take your favorite black dress up a notch, which allows you to still wear something you are already comfortable in.

2. Galentine’s

If you’re celebrating the 14th with your besties, whether you’re planning a lively wine night in, or an evening out on the town with your girls, there is room to spice things up with a funky bodysuit and your favorite leather pants. Color blocking is a fun exploration here as well, or an all-black look with room to go all out in the accessories department. An all-black, going-out outfit can easily be upgraded by putting your gold jewelry to the side for some heart-shaped accessories.

A fun bodysuit with a bodice or corset detailing can be paired with your favorite jeans or leather pants for a complete look. This outfit is versatile for happy hour, brunch, or a get-together at someone’s apartment.

Heart-shaped accessories are also a unique and cost-effective way to theme your outfits this holiday. Pick up a pair of heart-shaped earrings, a headband, or a purse to level up a basic outfit you already have.

3. Picnic

If you’re spending your Valentine’s Day with a charcuterie board at your favorite park, there is plenty of room to take your look on an ethereal, romantic route. We suggest something flowy and straight out of a romance novel. The puffier the better, as long as it is tested and approved for running through a field of daisies with the love of your life.

4. Takeout

Even if Valentine’s Day isn’t your favorite holiday, you can still treat yourself (and whoever is rebelling with you) to a relaxing night in with your favorite takeout and a comfortable set.

This Valentine’s Day sadly falls on a Monday, so if you feel like staying in for Bachelor Monday in style, a comfy pair of silk pajamas can make the day festive in your own way.

Target is a great place to buy a trendy matching set or comfortable pajamas. While you’re there you can also pick up some snacks and skincare products to turn the holiday into a self-care night.

No matter how you are spending this February 14th, you can do it in style to make the day feel more enchanted, as it only comes around once a year.
