The Power of the White Sweater

It’s officially fall, which means colder weather, leaves falling, and a change in wardrobe. A fun fall activity for most is rewatching comfort fall tv shows and movies. One fall favorite tv show of ours is Gilmore Girls. Not only does this show have funny characters, a beautiful town, and exciting love interests, it also has some great fashion looks set in the early 2000s. And one iconic fashion look from this show is Rory Gilmore’s oversized white sweater.

One can only understand the effect of this sweater once they’ve actually bought it and are wearing it. Not only is it possibly the softest sweater ever, it’s also the most comfortable with it being oversized and baggy. Since this sweater is white, it can be paired with practically anything- leggings, gray sweatpants, ripped jeans. It can be worn everywhere or while you’re laying at home for a night in.

This “sweater effect” isn’t just understood by loyal Gilmore Girls fans, it's also understood by celebrities and directors of box office hit movies. The sweater recently appeared in the popular thriller movie Knives Out. It was worn by none other than Chris Evans. With Evan’s being People’s 2022 Sexiest Man Alive, you can imagine he wore the hell out of that sweater.

Chris Evans blessing our screens by wearing this sweater wasn’t the last occasion it was seen on a hot celebrity. When rumors were still circulating on the internet of him being linked to Selena Gomez, she was seen wearing a nearly identical white sweater in Taylor Swift’s tiktok video. The video has garnered over twenty million likes and thousands of comments insinuating that the sweater seen in the video belongs to Chris Evans.

All of this frenzy surrounding one sweater just goes to show how much of a necessity it is to add Rory Gilmore’s statement piece to your fall closet asap. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
