The IT List: Autumn Edition

I am sure we have all seen this trend plastered all over our Tik Tok feeds for weeks now: the one where people post what they think is in or out for this season or stage in their life. Today, I want to share with you my personal Ins and Outs. Please remember that these are my silly little opinions and you are the ultimate driving force in your life. Alright, let's get into it.

Ultimate INS for Clothing: textures, long skirts, tights, mini skirts, and stripes. All of these elements allow for layering and mixing and matching of colors and styles. Together, you can achieve hundreds of unique and whimsical looks. Someone who does this well time and time again is Miss Chamberlain Coffee herself, Emma Chamberlain, which is why I have included some photos of her outfits below, just to provide some inspiration.

OUT for Clothing this season (and I know this is controversial): asymmetrical tops; flared leggings; kitten heels; and, last but not least, Zara. All of these things had their moments of fame; they were all over our feeds with influencers and ads preaching to us that they were cool and awesome. Now…not so much. Influencers have replaced these with puffer vests, parachute pants, and Aritizia. All trends that will soon sit at the back of your closet collecting dust.

INS for Lifestyle:  hands down the Trader Joe’s Autumnal Harvest Soup, Movie Nights, Gilmore Girls, moon watching, hot baths, and lighting candles are in.

Fall is about appreciating the leaves turning colors and slowly retreating to your home, preferring the comfort of your bed to the harsh outside winds. During this season, you want to nurture your inner child and watch all of the movies that made you believe in magic and the spirit of Halloween as a kid. My recommendations are: Harry Potter, Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. All of these transport me back to being a kid, curling up with a blanket in the bonus room with a big cup of hot chocolate.

Unfortunately, Cuffing Season is OUT this fall. While it may be comforting to have someone to do the fun, traditional fall activities such as pumpkin carving and haunted houses, finding temporary companionship with someone you don’t really like will only leave you feeling emptier the next season. Try focusing on doing these things with your friends or family instead; take care of the relationships that shape you.

All in all, the true Ins and Outs of this season are the ones you pick for yourself, but I do hope you enjoyed hearing mine. Love ya, Bye!

Strike Out,
