News consumes our lives now more than ever, and it can get overwhelming watching, reading, and listening to it every day. About 86% of Americans consume news digitally, where it is at the swipe of your fingers 24/7. While the rumor that journalism is a dying industry is false, print publications are not consumed nearly as much as they used to be. More specifically, with all the blogs and online content that magazines are uploading, no one has been subscribing to print, monthly issues. What people don’t remember about print is that it encourages you to sit down and read through what you need/want to know, and simply put it to the side instead of getting consumption overload every day.

Subscriptions are well worth it if they give you something to read and learn once a month. Here are a few suggestions for different audience types:

For witty story-telling: The New Yorker

The New Yorker is a timeless publication that keeps humor aligned with current events. Topics related to politics and culture, there’s also a section filled with fictional stories and poetry. What stands out the most about this publication is the graphics and art that covers each issue front to back. If you’re wanting to consume more news in a lighter, visualized way, The New Yorker might be something you should look into!

It’s important to remember how different journalistic works used to be consumed before everything became digital. You sat down and got all your news intake at once, but now people are experiencing burnout from too much news from phones and televisions. Please consider subscribing to any publication that will benefit your lifestyle and needs as an independent thinker!

Strike out,
