Strike’s Tailgate Essentials
Break out the face paint, school colors, and chants because football season is back! The return of the great American sport only means one thing: time to tailgate.
In South Florida, making it through a tailgate can be… tough. It's still 90 degrees out well into October, and depending on when your team is scheduled to play, tailgates can be in the middle of the day when that blistering sun is at its peak.
Tailgating here is a little different from your typical SEC experience. Finding a cute outfit that won't give you heatstroke or sweat stains is nearly impossible, so we compiled a list of tailgate essentials to still look cute in the heat.
Hairstyles:
Don't bother curling or straightening your hair. You'll either get a beer shower, or the humidity will ruin all your hard work. Instead, opt for an up-do like a slicked-back ponytail or bun. You can never go wrong with double Dutch braids (or any kind of braid), either.

Athletic Rompers/Matching Sets:
An athletic romper, one-piece, or matching shorts/tank top set is the easiest and most comfortable way to look like you planned your tailgate outfit weeks in advance. Make sure to pick out one in a school color and made of breathable fabric so you can darty all day long. Accessorize with a fun hairstyle and temporary tattoos for a super easy and fun gameday look.
Denim Shorts:
You can’t go wrong with this classic, all-American style. You can get blue denim, black denim, white denim, etc, to match the colors of your school. They add the perfect amount of casual and sexy to any gameday look. It’s also way better than wearing jeans in this heat!
Temporary Tattoos/Stickers/Facepaint:
If you have no other school-related accessories, temporary tattoos are a great way to show your spirit. Usually available at your school's bookstore or online, they look great on your cheeks, arms, chest, and any other exposed area. Facepaint is fun if you want to go all out and show your school spirit or paint the school letters on the frat boys ’ chests.

However you decide to tailgate, please don't show up in a formal dress, sandals, and your hair just blown out. We would be heartbroken to see South Florida heat and parties destroy your hard work.
