With fashion weeks all over the world wrapping up, we have been served endless new trends for our Spring 2020 wardrobe. This season runways were focused more on ready to wear outfits compared to previous fashion weeks that were much more Avant Garde. Many of the trends are things we have seen previously with more of a modern edge.

Here’s a list of Spring 2020 trends you should try before they take over.

Puffy Sleeves

This trend has been around for years but now the sleeves are bigger and better than ever. Popularized in the 1800’s, the sleeve was originally called “leg-of-mutton” sleeves because of its resemblance to a leg of a lamb, it’s intent was to emphasize the “ideal” female figure and create a dramatic hourglass. Now the sleeve is seen as a part of a power move, similar to how men’s suits had large shoulder pads to create a boxier shape.

Colored Leather

Most of us have a sleek black leather jacket in our closet that we pull out every fall and hide away when spring rolls around. This season leather will around all spring in any color but black. The leather texture reflects the bright colors beautifully. Pieces like tops and skirts will be sold in an array of colored leather which is a refreshing fun take on a typical sleek black look.

Chunky Gold Chains

Last year layering chains was the way to go. We are ditching the stacks and wearing a single chunky gold chain. This statement piece elevates the simplest outfits. Gold chains are not just being worn as necklaces, Bottega designed a shoe where the ankle strap was a chain instead of a typical leather strap. While this trend moves though luxury goods to more fast fashion, it may transform into thick chain anklets.

Tiny Tops

Katie Holmes took the internet by storm when she was photographed on the street wearing a matching bra and cardigan set. The brand that began this trend of matching sets is called Khaite and will cost you about $2060. As most famously photographed fashions do, high street brands like Zara created their own versions of these barely their sweater sets. More styles of very small crop tops are becoming readily available in all stores. These styles are perfect to pair with high waisted trousers and the next trend of shorts.

Shorts

Reading that shorts are an upcoming trend is mildly shocking, they seem like an everyday staple. Shorts that are coming off runways are lengths that most would avoid wearing after 2008. Bermuda shorts are back, not tight denim Bermuda’s, but trousers that almost hit the knee. These are often being paired with a paper bag waist in ready to wear. On the opposite end of the spectrum hot pants made an impact in this season shows, these are the less wearable of the two. Which of these trends will you be trying out this season?
