Shoe-in Out: Shoes for Every Moment
Imagine walking into a closet lined with shoes on each wall organized by type and color. Maybe your dream closet includes racks of clothes, but not mine. My dream closet is filled with shoes that can match with outfits for any event. All of my outfits begin with the shoes and then work their way up.
I almost feel like Carrie Bradshaw saying this, but I am just obsessed with shoes. While she was enthralled by heels, mostly Manolo Blahniks, I am in love with all shoe types. I am a fan of a good pair of heels, the perfect platform sneaker, the comfiest athletic sneaker, and a stylish bootie. I am always in search of the next best shoe.
That might sound like a lot of shoes, and perhaps you’re thinking this girl is addicted to shoes. Or if you’ve watched Confession of a Shopaholic, you’re probably comparing me to Rebecca. However, I believe that all of my shoes serve a purpose and are put to good use. I can attest to the fact that I have worn each shoe I own on multiple occasions. I would not consider myself a shopaholic, I just have a passion for shoes and will walk you through my favorite shoe styles.
Let’s begin with the fashion sneaker, which is by far my favorite style of shoe. There is always a “need” for a fashion sneaker that matches well with multiple outfits and can be dressed up or down. These sneakers include platforms, high-tops, mid-tops, and low-tops. Whatever shoe makes you feel good and look good. Personally, I believe that platform shoes always complement straight jeans well. I enjoy having a shoe with a pattern or print that can go well with a pair of jeans and a plain shirt to give the outfit a little kick. On the flip side, it is also nice to have a plain black or white shoe that will match a printed skirt or dress. One of my go-to brands for these sneakers is P448.
Now, I can’t forget about sneakers that are functional for athletic activities, which brings us to running sneakers. I have always enjoyed running as a stress outlet. One of the keys to a successful run is a supportive pair of sneakers that is also somewhat stylish. When I was younger, I only focused on the sporter chic part, which led me to Nike. However, I soon discovered that my Nike sneakers were not providing the foot support I desired. I have since moved on to the Brooks Levitate sneaker. I am so obsessed that I pre-bought a pair for when these sneakers are worn out.
I am not a fan of having exposed ankles in the winter, so this requires booties for those chilly days. Since I am on the shorter side, I like having a boot with a slight platform or heel that can give me an extra inch or two. In the winter I most often dress in dark colors, and therefore love having a chunky black bootie. I know I said fashion sneakers were my favorite, but now I have two favorites. This past winter I purchased a pair of black Ash booties and have never been so satisfied with a shoe purchase. These booties work well with every outfit and are functional in the rain or snow!
I saved heels/sandals for last because I find that I wear these the least. I’m not really attending formal events at the moment that require heels, but I do have a preference in my heel type. I find chunky platform heels to be the most comfortable. If you are going to spend hours with your toes crammed into a small opening, then you better select a pair of heels you can last in. I think all of my heels are black with the exception of one tan pair because black will match any formal dress. However, if you’re going for a more casual dress for the summer, a pair of platform sandals is your best friend.
Hopefully, I’ve inspired you to try out a new shoe for next season! Shopping for shoes should always involve a search for style, function, and comfort.
