Reformation Releases New Active Line

Reformation is arguably one of the leading brands in sustainability. The brand’s motto, “Being naked is the #1 most sustainable option, we’re #2,” is a cheeky yet somewhat true statement that attests to the brand’s ongoing popularity. Despite racially charged allegations this past year, it girls and Instagram models are still seen everywhere in the brand’s iconic floral dresses and flirty tops.

Until now, Reformation was missing one thing: activewear. The brand previously carried Girlfriend collective, a popular sustainable active brand that provides a more affordable version of slow fashion activewear. However, with the launch of Ref Active, the brand seems to have said, “Move over Girlfriend Collective, there’s a new workout set in town.” With the rise of athleisure and loungewear during COVID, it seems that it would make perfect sense for the brand to branch out and finally release its own activewear line. Ref Active became available on Match 1st. Marketed for the everyday person that goes from working out to running errands, the collection seems very much in line with what the average person’s day-to-day life is like during the pandemic.

The new activewear line is comprised of all the classic activewear essentials: bike shorts, tops, unitards, sports bras, and of course, leggings. While most of the cuts are on-brand with Reformation's classic vibe, the line also features some trendier additions like a one-shoulder bra with cutouts and a jumpsuit. The pieces are designed to be comfortable yet compressive, made out of Reformations reprieve fabric that contains recycled polyester made from water bottles. The reprieve fabric allows consumers to see the number of bottles, greenhouse gas emissions, water, and energy they’re saving for each style that the line offers. The fabric is split into two different kinds of fabrication: EcoSmart and EcoMove. The EcoMove fabric provides enough support for medium to high impact workouts, while the EcoStretch fabric is the perfect material for light exercise and lounging around.

The sets come in seven different colors that range from trendy nudes and baby pink to bolder colors like coral red and kelly green. Sizing and pricing seem to be in line with other Reformation items. Sizing ranges from extra small to 3XL – slightly more size-inclusive than the rest of Reformation's usual collections, which is a small but notable step in the right direction. The prices of the activewear range from $48 – $188. Items such as tops and sports bras are in the fifty-dollar range while bottoms such as bike shorts and leggings range from $60 – $90. Overall, not the most expensive activewear prices we’ve seen, and considering the usual quality of reformations clothing paired with the aspect of sustainability, the price seems well worth it.

No matter what vibe you're going for with your activewear, Reformation now seems to have it all. There's something in this line for everyone. Whether you're an athlete who's into bolder, brighter colors or someone who's into a sleek laid-back set to run errands in, Reformation now has you covered.
