In the Age of Influencers with @ Ageorama

From small screens to the Big Apple, Adrienne Reau is the fashion icon Generation Z needs and deserves. She’s vibrant in color, chic in style, and she’s just getting started.

The 26-year-old TikTok star with a wardrobe that embodies all things Pisces, pin-up girl and Pinterest didn’t set out to be an internet “it girl.” Instead, after graduating college in 2017, Reau moved from Ohio and took her talents to sea. As a dancer for Carnival Cruise Line, she lived abroad and performed around the world.

That is, until COVID-19 surfaced. After losing her job as a result of the pandemic, Reau relocated to Tampa, Florida, and was quarantined with her parents. She didn’t have a job, but she did have a TikTok account. And, a few viral videos later, making TikToks became her job.

Although she was no longer employed as a professional performer, Reau still played dress-up and donned colorful outfits reminiscent of her dancer days in her posts. In mixing and matching pieces that made picture-perfect sense once she was wearing them, @ageorama made a name and following for herself online.

Eventually, Reau began making more money from one post than she would have during one month at her old gigs. With money in her bank account, eccentric pieces in her wardrobe and a new entourage of thousands of followers, she packed her bags and brand to move to New York City.

Now, she’s living the life of a content creator and influencer, gracing the city with her creative poses, innovative ideas and shameless style. As she lives the life of Gen Z’s dreams, Reau shares she enjoys the freedom and variety of her schedule. Just like her sock sleeves and headphone necklaces, her days are seldom boring. Reau’s evenings are even more exhilarating, as she is taking NYC nightlife by storm, one pair of knee-high boots at a time.

The full-time-creator life is not all “werk” without the work, though. As her own boss, Reau makes the rules and sets the routine. Like most modern-day internet princesses, she spends most of her time creating content and editing TikToks.

Just like her former life in Florida, Reau answers emails, plans shoots and films many of her videos from home. This time, though, “home” is a solo studio apartment with neon lights, antique accessories and clothing racks galore. Piles of packages often unintentionally decorate her space, as more and more brands gift goodies to her. With recent deliveries from MAC Cosmetics, Naked Wolfe, Savage x Fenty and more, she’s sure to make more magic (and Depop listings, if we’re lucky) soon.

The post office may despise her, but the rest of the world can’t get enough.

Reau’s fame is new, but much of her wardrobe is not. Amid the abundance of NYFW ensembles and PR packages lies her personal wonderland of vintage ‘fits and thrifted finds.

These unique pieces make her a modern-day internet icon, yet her style is reminiscent of a time sans social media. With Britney Spears eager to befriend Reau’s low-rise pants, and Carrie Bradshaw set to applaud her feathers and sequins, @ageorama is a vessel of all things ‘90s grunge and Y2K nostalgia.

In addition to these historic fashion icons, Reau says her grandma inspires many aspects of her style. She taught her a lot about life, especially when it came to fun, funky hats and full-face makeup. Reau has transformed this beauty wisdom into her own, as she fearlessly flaunts rainbow brows, decorative liner and colorful eyeshadow.

Even when she is sporting a simple makeup look, Reau’s hair is sure to turn heads and generate likes. From edgy buns to effortless curls, her short locks are the accessory. If mere mortals struggle to duplicate her one-of-a-kind cut, followers can admire or emulate her vibe by browsing her hair inspo Pinterest board

In the future, Reau is aiming beyond the boards. With an anticipated attendance to Coachella in April 2022, she says she eventually wants to try out life and influencing on the West Coast.

East-Coast-Reau plans on continuing to share creative content to develop her brand, attract more followers and fulfill her calling as a fashion influencer. As she collabs with more companies, she hopes to model in campaigns and even start her own clothing line.

If her current closet is any reflection of a future shop, buckle up, internet friends.

In the meantime, aspiring “it girls” can attend her NYC closet sales in spirit and vicariously live through her posts. In regard to the real people in her life, though, Reau says it’s important for her to have friends outside of the social media realm. In acknowledging how taxing and consuming content creation can be, she values surrounding herself with good people who ground her.

Reau meets these people and others who share her affinity for wearing whatever she wants through different events and direct messages.

While she loves playing, connecting and creating content with her fellow creatives, she strives to be mindful of comparison in the competitive atmosphere that’s inherent to the city. Instead, Reau reminds herself that everyone has a different direction; it’s up to her to stay in her lane.

And, as her over 400k followers on TikTok would agree, it’s quite the lane to be in. It’s incredible to consider how a few 30-second videos led to her ever-increasing fanbase, serving as a testament to the power of fashion in the age of influencers.

Although @ageorama is just one of many internet icons parading the streets in leather, lace and everything in between, her unique background and blend of styles will have her on our feeds and radars for a millennia of trends to come.

Her fits may be flawless, but her unconventional rise reflects how there’s no one “perfect” way to pursue a passion. After all, trusting the process and staying true to oneself is the most fashion-forward thing anyone can do.
