How to: The Perfect sex playlist
You might not have one of your own, but we all know they exist. You put it on when things start heating up between you and your partner, likely enhancing the situation. Some people find it necessary though it is definitely not required to carry out the deed. You are probably wondering what I’m referring to here. Why the sex playlist, of course. The sex playlist is something you and your partner may not need, but it can make or break your sex if included. Nobody wants to put their sex playlist on only to completely turn off the other person by playing songs that just should not be on during sex. If you’re going to do it, do it right. Let’s figure out how to craft your perfect sex playlist and what to avoid at all costs.
Music can play a vital part in your sexual encounters. Having the right music playing helps set the mood for all parties involved. When the music is good, your brain is in the mood and happy, meaning your body will be in the mood too. That being said, there is no single perfect-for-every-situation sex playlist that will always, without fail, turn on all parties involved. Making the perfect sex playlist depends on what you like and what kind of vibe you are going for. Of course, the very widely accepted view is that The Weeknd produces the perfect music to have sex to, while others like Rihanna or Trey Songz. If this stuff gets the job done for you, then by all means, keep doing what you’re doing. But while this may work for most, it is not right for everyone.
Maybe, you’re looking for something that is a bit more you. For example, I don’t think all my indie-heads out there are looking to listen to The Weeknd’s most overplayed hits while lovemaking. Instead, focus your sex playlist on artists like Mac DeMarco or Beach Fossils. The biggest thing to stay focused on while making your sex playlist is keeping the music soulful. Sex is a soulful activity; therefore, soulful music enhances the experience. It shouldn’t be songs that you think are supposed to be on a sex playlist, but rather, songs that you want to hear and that you genuinely feel will magnify your experience in the sack. Anything that speaks to your soul (or anything that makes you h*rny) is fair game for your sex playlist.
Most importantly, I want to point out some things to avoid when curating a sex playlist. With the help of many friends, sex-havers, and sex playlist owners, I have compiled a list of a few songs you should steer clear of when designing your sex playlist.
“Birthday Sex” by Jeremih. This song was number one among my friends of songs that just sound annoying to your ears.
“No Hands” by Waka Flocka Flame. You might want to get down to this one when you’re drunk in the club but trust me, don’t play this one in the bedroom.
“Careless Whisper” by George Michael. I included this here because it was actually pretty consistent among the sex playlist horror stories I heard. If you’re not in bed with George Michael’s number one fan, probably avoid this one.
“Sin City” by Chrishan. While this song may be about sex, please do not play it while carrying out your bedroom activities.
“Rockstar” by Nickelback. I was just as surprised as anyone when I found out people were actually having sex to this song. Nobody wants to listen to your dreams of being much more famous than you are while in bed with you.
“Deepthroat” by cupcakKe. Again, granted, this song is about sexual affairs, don’t play it. I’m confident this one is getting no one in the mood. In fact, I’m sure this would take many out of the mood.
The last thing I want to say is please, whatever you do, absolutely do not ever play “I Just Had Sex” by The Lonely Island and Akon. Nobody, and I mean nobody, wants to hear this after they have just had sex, whether it was good or bad.
