Harmony
STRIKE MAGAZINE UF ISSUE 06, DESTINATION 4
We all embark on independent paths to purpose. Shoot four is our intersection, which is exhibited by an initial disinterest in others’ motivations and erupting as an ideological clash. The projection and protection of our divergent destinations put us at odds. We make a mess of ourselves. Yet, as our paths draw parallels, we find the futility in fighting each other. Our walls melt, and we reach harmony in this undivided understanding — for the dust must settle before confetti falls.
“Harmony was one of the craziest set productions we did. From cake to chicken and homemade jello, the staging for this shoot was insane, and it was collaborative with the content team, which tied the shoot altogether. It was amazing to shoot these models, especially Hana, who is basically my sister, which is why this shoot is so special to me. Being my last film shoot for Strike, I poured my heart and soul into it, and I’m happy to have worked with a team that’s so talented and supportive. ”

BEHIND-THE-SCENES
“After recognizing how we navigate the trials life throws our way, Issue 06 commences on the realization that our inner-self is our biggest roadblock to our final destination. The fundamental question that led to the conceptualization of shoot four came from the simple idea of the awkwardness and discomfort that comes along with group projects. It is not our fear of other people that make these projects difficult, it is the fear of demonstrating our ideas and being personal that form this ‘social intimidation and awkwardness’ we have come to know. Shoot four follows five independent characters through a journey of discomfort and the realization that intrapersonal feud is simply the product of interpersonal pain... vulnerability is transformed into a sense of cooperative unity.”

“Shoot four was a lot of fun for my team, especially considering the way hair impacted our final looks. Each model had a very specific and outrageous headpiece to work with. This shoot entailed lots of texture and lots of layers, which we incorporated into each beauty look and coinciding headpiece. Working with green-colored eyelashes and gemstones were personally some of my favorite elements we added to the final looks.”

“And I like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties there isn’t any privacy.” - Jordan Baker, The Great Gatsby
“Shoot four resonates a lot with this quote from ‘The Great Gatsby.’ When you’re in a crowd, what you do is intimate because not everyone is paying attention to you. At small parties, everything you do will get noticed... Shoot 4 represents social anxiety. You want to be the person that you envision, and you start living in your head. ‘Should I say this? Is this person mad at me? Am I too nice? Should I have done that?’ Jacob Wall came up with several ideas for shoot four. The style was heavily influenced by the citizens of the Capitol in The Hunger Games. In my perspective, the shoot portrays how people don’t know how to be social face-to-face anymore. There is a lack of practice because of the pandemic and because of social media.”
— GABRIELA DONATI, CONTENT TEAM ORANGE ASSISTANT
“Shoot four symbolized how we all are going through our own internal struggles that we think we have to deal with on our own. In the end, we end up just projecting onto those around us, even those we don’t know, blind to the fact that they could possibly empathize and relate to us.”
