Five Ideas for the Perfect GALentine’s Day

As the queen herself, Beyoncé said so eloquently: “All the single ladies, all the single ladies. All the single ladies. Now put your hands up”.

If you are like me this Valentine's Day and your hands are way up– don't fear! There is nothing I love more in this world than hosting a good girls' night, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to get together with the gals you love the most and celebrate the love of friendship. If you are stuck on how to celebrate the holiday, which can make you feel so lonely, I’ve got you covered with a few ideas!

1. Favorite Things Party

The idea is simple: give a little, get a little. I have seen these parties all over TikTok and Instagram, and they are the perfect way to spread some love and goodies! Everyone brings two (or more) of their favorite items and shares about them. Then the group, White Elephant-style, picks which two goodies they each want to take home. Each person should end up with two new items to try– a great way to test out new products that your friends love!

2. Board and Board Night

This one, while basic, is a classic girls' night theme that never missess. Recently, my friends and I have been into games such as Scategories, Fishbowl, Cards, etc. You could take this love for games, specifically board games, and pair it with edible boards! Everyone brings a board platter, such as cheese, fruit, fast food, or sushi, and you spend the night battling it out with your favorite board game.

3. Wine Bottle Painting

My friends and I recently did this for a birthday party, and it was such a great way to chit-chat and get creative. Each person brings a bottle of champagne and some paints, and you let your creativity run free! It was so fun to see the ways each of my friends’ personalities shined through in their designs. I even used Modge Podge and some napkins from TJ Maxx to spice up my bottle. There is no wrong way to paint your bottle, and they are so cute to display in your house or apartment!

4. Scrapbooking/Vision Board Making

For my more creative friend groups, one idea that may appeal to you is scrapbooking and vision board making. Supplies are simple: photos, magazines, stickers, ribbon, paper, notebooks, etc. One of my goals for this next year is to make more scrapbook pages to document moments and people I love. This is a great way to reflect on your life and set goals and intentions for the future!

5. Self-Care Movie Night

Another classic girls’ night idea that will soothe your heart and mind. Pop on a facemask, your favorite jammies, and a good ole’ rom-com, and forget about every boy or girl who has ever done you wrong. There are a million and one love movies out there, but here are some I think are worth watching with the girls you love: How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, 100 Days of Summer, Mamma Mia!, When Harry Met Sally, and She’s the Man.

If you know me, you may know that one of my all-time favorite TV shows is Sex and the City. All four main women struggle with love, and each has a revolving door of men in their lives. Yet, there is one thing that is consistent for each woman, and that is their friendship with each other. They love each other so deeply and champion each other to the greatest extent. While this show has taught me many things, the most important is that your girlfriends are the most valuable relationships you will find. Valentine's Day can be so draining for those not in steady romantic relationships, but if you celebrate your friendships and cherish the adoration you have found in them, you just might feel the love in the air.

Strike Out,
