Colourpop is Releasing a Lizzie McGuire Makeup Collection
Even though the Lizzie McGuire reboot was cancelled, the character we all grew up with is coming back with her own makeup line at Colourpop Cosmetics. An early 2000s inspired collection, the line will consist of a 12 pan eye-shadow palette, a lip scrub, four So Juicy lip plumping glosses, two Glitterally Obsessed glitter gels, and two pressed powder blushes. Colourpop is known for their affordable beauty products and frequent collaborations with Disney, like Bambi, various Disney princesses and villains, and a midnight masquerade collection. Lizzie McGuire was an icon in pop culture, along with her animated persona. Our childhood fantasies are coming true in a different way than we expected.
The Disney Channel series starred Hilary Duff as the title character as she navigated the social and personal issues of being a teenager. To express her inner thoughts, an animated version of Lizzie’s character performed humorous soliloquies. Now 20 years later, fans are getting the special Lizzie treatment, while taking a trip down memory lane. Her cartoon self will appear on the cover of various makeup items.
The eyeshadow palette is named “What Dreams Are Made Of” and will feature lilacs, pinks, purples, and bright yellows in both matte and duochrome formulas. The shades are named after iconic moments from the series, including a rich dark pink named “Outfit Repeater”, a deep purple called “The Digital Bean”, and a yellow-green dubbed “Don’t Freak.” Other famous phrases mentioned in the show are also expected to make an appearance. The Bubblegum Pop Lippie Scrub is created with shea butter and raw sugar for exfoliation.
This will be the brand’s first collaboration with So Juicy lip glosses, and to connect with current beauty trends, the glosses will have a plumping effect. There are four shades of lip gloss to pick from, each named after a different character from the show: Lizzie, Miranda, Gordo, and Ethan Craft. The two Glitterally Obsessed glitter gels are a white opal with bright rainbow glitter called “Sing to Me Paolo”, and a bubblegum pink with multi-dimensional rainbow glitter called “Get a Grip!” Perfect for spring looks, the two satin finished powder blushes include a bubblegum pink color called “Dee-lish”and a hot pink color called “You are Magnifico”.
Colourpop teased the collaboration by tweeting a photo with a pink Disney Channel logo and a green floral background. The tweet read “"If you know, you know. You just had to be there...Coming soon to ColourPop 👀." A later tweet read “Grab your ankle bracelet, hair crimper, and butterfly clips! It’s time for some outfit repeating! 💖🌸🦋 Can you guess what our next collab is?👇.” The line launched on March 26th and with the Y2K trend coming back, there was no better time to release this collection. A silhouette photo of the animated Lizzie McGuire character was attached to the tweet. Be sure to add the ColourPop x Disney’s Lizzie McGuire collection to your shopping cart and relive your childhood. It’s time to show our makeup bags what dreams are made of!
