Be Your Own Carrie Bradshaw

Whether it's writing her weekly column for Vogue, getting morning breakfast with the girls, juggling between which New York City gentleman will tie her down, or spending upwards of $400 on brand new Manolo Blahnik stiletto's, Carrie Bradshaw lives a lifestyle that is much more hectic than just sex in The City. While some may call Bradshaw the Queen of Fashion, I consider her to be the Queen of love and lifestyle. Although Tallahassee, Florida, is in no comparison to New York City, we still experience some of the same life issues that Carrie Bradshaw did. I have come up with 5 lifestyle tips that derive from Mrs. Bradshaw herself which in turn, could maybe help you out when it comes to work or play.

Tip 1. Don't be afraid to be yourself.

If you have seen the Television Show Sex and The City you would know that Carrie Bradshaw is the type of woman who embraces who she is and what she wants out of life. In the show, Bradshaw publishes many of her books where she would use her life dilemma's in hopes of helping others feel that they aren't alone. Regardless of the scenario, love, work, friends, Bradshaw would want you to know that it's OK to stay true to who you are and what you believe. Although some people may prefer a salad, go ahead and get the cheeseburger, large fry, and the Cosmopolitan because you want it and because you deserve it.

Tip 2. Don't psych yourself out.

Is it a big test? Awkward eye contact? The moment where you have to finally define the relationship? Whatever it may be, odds are, the situation will play out much better in real life than the way it did in your head. Being in a college atmosphere allows for a lot of different scenarios to come into our life. Whether the situation is stress-free or stressful, that isn't so much in our control but the way we think and prepare about the situation is. Bradshaw would tell you to keep on moving and if it all doesn't go the way you want, just buy some Manolos!

Tip 3. Find Your Forever Friends

Throughout middle school, high school, college, and so on, people may come and go but true friends will always be with you. As cliché as this may sound, I myself, as well as Bradshaw have found this to be true. One of my favorite quotes for Bradshaw herself is "maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with." Yes, there will be disagreements, and yes there will be emotional moments that may cause tears, but the amount of belly-aching laughs that begin and end with your girlfriends will never be forgotten. Love them and cherish them because maybe just one day they will turn in your bridesmaid just like Carrie was for Charlotte.

Tip. 4 Everyone needs a night in.

The societal pressures, especially in a college setting, can sometimes wear you out beyond belief. As young adults who are just trying to stay social while maintaining good grades, nightlife can sometimes cause us more harm than good. While Bradshaw did enjoy her late nights in The City with a Cosmo in her hand, she also knew the importance of taking time to herself and reflecting on who she was and where she was going in life. To live a healthy lifestyle, it is important to take time out of your day to do some self-reflection. I don't know about you, but I prefer a romance movie accompanied by large pizza rather than an incredibly packed, humid bar.

Tip 5. Boy Bye!

For being an old-fashioned girl who is incredibly romantic, Carrie Bradshaw experienced countless ups and downs in the relationship department Bradshaw embraces love from any aspect and refuses to settle for "anything less than butterflies." In doing so, her character inspires women to push past the men who don't appreciate them, who don't take them on dates, and who don't make them feel above and beyond and to instead, pursue the ones that do. Unfortunately, this concept is a lot easier said than done considering how we tend to fall for the ones who treat us all of the wrong ways. Samantha Jones' - Bradshaw's On-Screen best friend and she too feel some type of way when it comes to guys, "Listen to me" she says, "The right guys is an illusion. Start living your lives." Stop putting up with the games silly girl, Trix are for kids!

Life is short. Carrie Bradshaw would want you to make it sexy and stylish.
