6 Years Later: Adele’s Back

It looks like Adele is ready to say “Hello” again. After a 6 year hiatus, Adele is back with a new single, “Easy on Me.” Adele started teasing her new music on October 5th, with a 21-second instrumental clip on her social media that revealed the title and release date. Before “Easy on Me”, Adele hadn’t released anything since her 2015 album, 25. On October 10th, Adele went live on Instagram for the first time to talk to her fans and announce that her upcoming album, 30, would focus on her divorce. She also teased the new single more by playing the first verse for lucky listeners.

In a recent post on Instagram, Adele also officially revealed that 30 would be released on Nov. 19. The new album is "my ride or die throughout the most turbulent period of my life," The singer also commented that she "learned a lot of blistering home truths about myself along the way." This soulful ballad was released on October 14th. On her Youtube page, the music video dropped for her over 360,000 subscribers and counting. The video was shot in September in Quebec. The video begins in the same house that was in the “Hello” music video from 2015.

The lyrics really reflect the inner turmoil that Adele promised listeners. "I was still a child, didn't get the chance to feel the world around me, had no time to choose, what I chose to do, so go easy on me," she sings. Her passion for embracing all of life’s emotions surfaces through the single. Adele filed for divorce from Konecki in 2019. She and Konecki, who lives across the street from her in Los Angeles, share 9-year-old son Angelo. Adele actually wrote the album for her son.

“I was just going through the motions and I wasn't happy," Adele explained of their marriage to Vogue Magazine. "Neither of us did anything wrong. Neither of us hurt each other or anything like that. It was just: I want my son to see me really love, and be loved. It's really important to me."

As of October 15th, the video for "Easy On Me" has already been viewed more than 24 million times on YouTube, with extremely positive feedback from both fans and critics. Adele’s new single will surely help you through a crippling case of heartbreak. "Easy on Me" is out now. "30" will become available on Nov. 19, 2021.
