Two Women Team
A lot of different elements go into having a successful photoshoot. You need a good concept, the proper lighting, your ideal models, and (of course) great makeup. It can take a whole team of people doing each individual job in order for everything to work well. However a close friend, Alexis Poulos, and I were able to pull off an entire photoshoot on our own. Using an apartment living room, colored tissue paper, and extra bright light bulbs, we were able to achieve a studio style photoshoot with high contrasting colors and glowing lights. For Alexis and I, this shoot was more about exploration. Because her and I typically have a team of people assisting us in the different photoshoot aspects, it was interesting to have an entire shoot to ourselves. Nonetheless, we created a futuristic concept that accentuated blue and red hues with glimmering highlights. With just Alexis and I working, we were given the flexibility and creative freedom to focus on both of our visions- the manipulation of color and lighting. Throughout the shoot, we discussed different angles, shots, and poses that each of us wanted to explore which in turn allowed us to expand our imaginations and be continuously inspired. By playing off of each others ideas and teaching one another tips and tricks that go into modeling and photography, we exploited the illuminated colors, creating a smooth blend that fell on both the wall behind us, and our faces and chest. Using a glitter rub, Alexis and I were able to develop a spacey shimmer on our collarbones and shoulders, which also compliments the heavy shadows photographed. Despite our lack of an elaborate team, we surpassed our initial expectations for the shoot, and produced content that both Alexis and I find to be exciting, fresh, and authentic.
