This Year's Spring Fashion Trends (with a Florida Flare!)

Now that the weather has started to warm back up, it’s time for all of us to return our cozy flannels to the hanger and exchange them with something a little more ‘spring’. Of course, Florida does not experience a true spring, so it may be difficult to keep up with the latest trends. Here are a couple of suggestions on how to achieve a cute spring ‘fit while minding the ever-changing Florida weather.
A big trend blowing up on the internet right now is corset tops. Thanks to Netflix’s Bridgerton, people are flocking to stores and fashion sites trying to get their hands on one of these, for obvious reasons. I think these scream spring fashion. From the cute floral patterns and pastel colors to the elegant silhouette, these tops give off definite Spring vibes with or without a jacket which makes them the perfect fit for Florida’s moody weather changes. Now that they are growing in popularity, you can find a lot of different styles online. This particular top from Amazon blew up on Tik Tok, but you can also find many other options across several sites. The best part is, there are many different styles – some have straps for more coverage, others are cropped to show a little more skin, so you can find one that caters to your comfort level.
Something else to keep in mind while picking out your new spring wardrobe is the new-found love for the color sage green, which is perfectly displayed in the corset photo above. This color is perfect for spring because it’s fresh and full of life just like all the beautiful newly budding trees. The best part is you can use this shade of green as any item in your wardrobe. Wide-legged pants or a mini skirt, a cute ruched tank top, or a light sweater – Sage could even be incorporated through accessories!
Something else that would be practical for Florida weather is sweater sets! You can wear the combo together for the chilliest part of the day in the AM, but when the weather gets hot you can shed the extra layer for a cute tank top! These matching sets come in a variety of colors and would look so cute with a pair of your favorite jeans. Plus, it should be much easier to pick out and color coordinate your outfits when you’re in a rush to get ready and they just look so cozy.
Another cute way to style sweater tops is with my next recommendation – miniskirts! I know that may sound intimidating, or even uncomfortable, to some, but there are many different outfit stylings you can tackle with this piece! You can always put on tights underneath if you would prefer not to show too much leg, or if it happens to be a colder night out with friends. Knee-high boots could also do the trick! Of course, on the warmer days, mini skirts are a great way to stay cool as well. Pair a skirt with your sweater set, or a baggy tee tucked in.
Now that we have left the winter months of Florida behind, it’s time to exchange those chunky sweaters for corset tops! Have fun styling some of these trendy pieces into your wardrobe and don’t be afraid to experiment with your spring style.
