The Sailor Moon X Jimmy Choo Collaboration Adds a Magical Touch to Designer Fashion

Designer fashion has been in the public eye for quite some time. Each specific brand name has its own signature style that has cemented itself as a recognizable figure in high-end fashion. While maintaining their distinctive looks, brands will occasionally collaborate with a franchise or celebrity to bring in a new audience for their product offerings. Recently, Jimmy Choo has decided to release a line in collaboration with Sailor Moon for the 30th anniversary of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, adding a colorful and spacey pop to their typical items!

The most striking product from the line have to be the new shoes. Each sailor scout has a shoe designed to match their personality and unique style. Each one boasts a vibrant color that is the representative color of their respective sailor scout. Without knowing which shoe belongs to which scout, anyone familiar with the franchise would be able to easily identify whose is whose.

Jimmy Choo also takes some of their previously existing styles and gives them a Sailor Moon coat of paint. Some of their most popular bags, such as the Varenne Quad XS bag and the Varenne Tote bag, display a manga panel as their design. Again, each sailor scout gets their own Varenne XS Quad bag with a picture of them in their color; however, there are a few other designs worth noting, too. One entirely black and white design showcases a romantic moment between Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. Another shows all five sailor scouts together, creating a color gradient as each one shines in their color.

There are other items entirely unique to the line as well. Perhaps the standout product is the Luna Minaudiere Clutch, which is a clutch bag shaped like Luna, the popular cat from the franchise. Fans of the iconic feline character can choose between a pearl and crystal version (if they’re feeling fancy). There are even more items, including keyrings and phone cases that can be found on Jimmy Choo’s official website.

This collaboration is intriguing as it was a bit unexpected to fans of the Sailor Moon series. Sailor Moon has been involved with all sorts of other franchises; however, this is their first dive into designer fashion. It may seem to target a niche audience, but it’s clear whom they were looking for has been found. Many of the items are already sold out on the website!

For some of us, this line is something we’ll have to admire from afar. Unfortunately, I am unable to justify a purchase of a $1,825 boot, as stylish as it may be. Instead of making any regrettable money decisions, we can appreciate what this collaboration means for the future of high-end fashion. While Sailor Moon is a franchise that is loved by people of all ages and genders, it is marketed toward young girls. Seeing a designer fashion line combined with many people’s favorite childhood series opens the doors for other series to collaborate with more well-known designers! I personally am looking forward to seeing what new and vibrant collaboration is next!
