The Return of Old Hollywood Glamour

Say goodbye to the clean girl aesthetic that dominated the early 2020s and hello to a new era of glamour and elegance. This season, we have seen a revival of high-impact looks inspired by the golden age of Hollywood. The 2025 red carpet season has seen a resurgence of dramatic silhouettes, bold lips, luminous skin, and the notable return of the classic bob.

If one beauty trend has solidified itself as the look of 2025, it’s the bob. Sleek, sculpted, and chic, this cut has proceeded onto every major red carpet. A look made famous by Hollywood legends like Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor has been given new life by current stars. The bob was front and center at the Golden Globes, spotted on celebrities like Zendaya and Selena Gomez, who brought a modern yet vintage-inspired take on the style. Celebrities like Taylor Russell, Jenna Ortega, Raye, and many more have also embraced the bob. These stars prove that the bob's versatility allows it to suit any face shape, hair type, and personal style, adding to the collective revival of this timeless hairstyle. Styled with deep side parts and soft waves, or sleek and straight with a glossy shine, the bob defines this year’s beauty renaissance.

This resurgence in Old Hollywood influence goes beyond just hair. Beauty and fashion have taken a step back in time, drawing inspiration from the grace and elegance of the 1940s and 1950s. At the 2025 Grammys, singer Raye stunned in a breathtaking Armani gown that channeled the structured elegance of Hollywood’s golden era. Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter gave some major Marilyn Monroe vibes, embodying the very essence of Old Hollywood in a striking blue backless gown adorned with delicate diamond embellishments that cascaded down her back, adding a layer of ethereal glamour. With her signature vintage waves and sultry eye makeup, Sabrina has undeniably become one of the leading figures in the return to classic glamour.

At the Golden Globes, celebrities like Zendaya, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, and Elle Fanning embraced vintage silhouettes and classic beauty elements that paid tribute to the most glamorous decades of Hollywood. Ariana Grande, dressed in a 1966 Givenchy haute couture gown, and  Elle Fanning, clad in a look inspired by a 1953 Balmain design, seamlessly merged classic couture with a modern touch, accentuated by luminous skin and soft blush. Selena Gomez, with her sleek bob and a perfectly tailored gown, embodied a contemporary take on 1950s red carpet glamour, enhanced with soft curls and a nude pink lip. Zendaya, never one to shy away from bold fashion moments, fully embraced the Old Hollywood aesthetic with a stunning ensemble that felt nostalgic and innovative, paired with sultry smokey eyes and a nude lip.

Beauty and fashion are always cyclical, yet in our current digital culture, where fleeting trends come and go with every scroll, beauty and fashion have lost some value in the constant need to pump out new and ever-changing looks. The pressure to keep up with fast-moving micro-trends has taken away the sense of timeless style, making genuine craftsmanship and artistry lose its significance. However, the resurgence of Old Hollywood glamour signals a shift—a return to beauty and fashion that values sophistication and attention to detail over momentary virality. In an era where everything feels temporary, there’s an undeniable appeal to embracing something timeless. The allure of Old Hollywood has always been its ability to transport, to remind us of an era where stars truly felt larger than life. And in 2025, that magic is back in full force.
