Stars- They’re Just like Us! Products and Trends Our Faves Are Loving

In my opinion, one of the best things to ever come from Vogue is their wildly successful Youtube series' such as 73 Questions24 Hours With, and Beauty Secrets. I'll never forget my first time watching In the Bag featuring Lily-Rose Depp. I felt so inspired because I finally got a glimpse into what the elusive cool girl deemed essential to her daily routine. These videos go beyond the magazine and connect the subject and the viewer in a casual, refreshing way. As a faithful subscriber to their channel and a connoisseur of anything celebrity, I present to you some of the products and pieces our favorite stars have been loving in beauty.

Starting with Maude Apatow, whom we all know and love. Honestly, I struggled to narrow down which products to include because her routine is tried and true. Her Beauty Secrets feature is refreshingly simple, as she details her struggle with acne and not knowing how to do makeup on her own very well. With skincare seemingly her priority, Apatow cites the Obagi Medical Nu-Derm Toner and the IDR Exfoliating and Hydrating Lotion as her saving grace when filming Euphoria. Her character, Lexi, wears a famous red lip that has since inspired Apatow to try bolder looks herself. The actress now swears by Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte's Magic Lip Scrub to prep her lips for long wear and a matte finish!

As a victim of oily skin, Vanessa Hudgens’s favorite products get a shoutout from me. For her, the fewer ingredients, the better. She goes on to apply Selena Gomez's Rare Beauty Light Touch Brightening Concealer and Bare Minerals BAREPRO Performance Wear Powder Foundation for a night out. In her Beauty Secrets feature, Hudgens says, “I really love this because it's got great coverage, but you can still see the skin underneath it. I hate when you can’t see skin.” The no-makeup makeup feel can often seem unattainable for oiler people who want to mattify their look, but Hudgens proves that it's all in the products.

The weather is heating up, and Zoë Kravitz has us covered. SPF has always been a necessary skincare step, and Kravitz swears by Isun Skincare Antioxidant Sun Butter. A big believer in using natural and organic products, she reminds viewers that beauty starts from within— by taking care of yourself and your skin, you won’t need makeup to cover up, but rather to highlight what is already beautiful.

To close us out with a few favorites is it-girl Olivia Rodrigo. She begins her beauty routine with something that really validates my own existence purely because I also use them – OLLY Undeniable Beauty Gummies! Count on the same girl who penned “I’m so sick of seventeen, where’s my f***ing teenage dream?” to stay relatable using a product that can be found at the local Target. A true Gen-Z, Rodrigo uses many products with which anyone on TikTok is probably familiar. The Ordinary serum, a Gua Shua, and Glossier’s Boy Brow are some of her essentials, all of them well-suited to accomplish an effortless and simple look.

I always find celebrities’ beauty routines interesting because most of what the media shows is them at their picture-perfect and red carpet ready. No one is born with a flawless finish, and watching my favorite stars do their makeup in their bathrooms has put me on to some pretty fantastic products and looks. Between acne, oily skin, and the hype surrounding current trends—stars really are just like us.

Strike Out,
