Off the Runway: Fashion Editors I Hope to See At NYFW

New York Fashion Week is shaping up to be the most anticipated post-pandemic fashion event of the year. With new designers flocking to the city to showcase their latest collections, editors, influencers, and celebrities alike follow along to show off their styles on the New York streets. As we look forward to seeing what designers have in store for next season, we’re just as excited to see who will be showing up to study the runways. I’ve compiled a list full of fashion editors you should be looking out for next week.

Phil Oh

Vogue’s go-to street photographer Phil Oh made a name for himself after years of sharing photos on his blog Street Peeper, turning a long-time hobby into an impressive career. His photos always capture his unique professionalism and artistic genius, making the anticipation of his arrival even greater.

Sarah Brody

This New York-based editor, writer, and stylist shows her audience the exciting behind-the-scenes life of a multi-hyphenated fashion blogger. I am obsessed with her style, so I can’t wait to see what she’ll be wearing for NYFW.

Michelle Li

Another one of my favorite New-York based editors, Michelle Li inspires her followers by her bold fashion and lifestyle choices. Her previous work at Teen Vogue as fashion & beauty director and as the fashion market editor for Refinery29 showcased her creative genius and authentic expertise of the industry, and her website is an easy way to look through all her work as a stylist, writer and creator.

André Leon Talley

This list would not be complete without the iconic, pioneering fashion editor André Leon Talley. Talley’s attention to detail and playful approach to fashion journalism has made him prominent in the industry. His larger-than-life looks never disappoint, so I always keep an eye out for him in the front row of my favorite runway shows.

Grece Ghanem

Named the “queen of ageless style” by Vogue, Grece Ghanem doesn’t let her age define what her wardrobe looks like. And that’s why we love her. If I can’t find her strutting the streets next week, I’ll be upset about it.

Vanessa Hong

No doubt about it - Vanessa should be an editor you’re looking out for next week. Her cool approach to the minimalist style gives her an edge against the backdrop of other fashion followers. Check her out.

Julia Sarr-Jamois

As the fashion director at British Vogue, Julia Sarr-Jamois’ sense of the fashion industry goes beyond the clothing. She is aware, and she educates fashion followers on the impact of the industry as well as the steps that are necessary towards a just future.

Mobolaji Dawodu

Dawodu’s work as a fashion stylist has, as his website agreeably states, “informed the visual language of cosmopolitan life and style for more than a decade.” This Nigerian-American stylist has pushed the boundaries of men’s fashion, as his time with GQStyle and the longevity of his styling career has proven.

If you’re ever bored of looking at the same designers or models throughout their fashion week journeys, I encourage you to do some research outside what the algorithm puts out on your feed. There are so many hidden voices out there to follow, and compiling this list has inspired me to continue to look beyond what people deem as “most popular,” as there is an endless number of talented fashion stars that should be more publicly recognized.

Strike Out,
