Milan Fashion Week: Beauty Recap

After nearly two years of being deprived of fashion week, it was finally time for a high-fashion revival and I can assure you it did not disappoint. Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2022 included some of the most beautiful and creative makeup and hair, having Vogue reporting that it was “one big party”. The designers and artists curated collections influenced by past style decades while incorporating their modernized spin to the runway. Versace served us 90s vibes, and Dolce & Gabbana went full-on Marilyn: sex and glam. Without further ado, here are the best beauty looks from Milan Fashion Week.
It’s all about the hair, and middle parts are in. Sleek and stylish, Fendi served us all the looks with their poker-straight hair and slicked-back buns to showcase the middle part. This beauty trend made appearances in countless shows such as Prada and Etro. The middle part was brought back to the beauty scene when Gen Z influencers on TikTok decided that it was time for the simple yet aesthetically pleasing style to come back. Having had a middle part back in middle school, I am thankful that this trend made its way back to us.

I always say if I could put glitter in my hair every day, I would, and it seems as though many beauty artists feel the same. Stemming from the popular Y2K trend, hair glitter was all the rage at Marni’s show. They used a combination of glitter, hair gel, and hair dye to create insane colorful glitter mohawks that strutted their stuff down on the runway. Blumarine also explored the endless possibilities of using glitter as they incorporated body glitter into their show in true eye-catching fashion. Y2K has been trending and brought back many nostalgic looks that we see all over the runway and in streetwear.
When you think of 90’s hair trends, you think headscarves. And if you didn’t think that before, well, now you know what’s up. Just imagine Christina Aguilera (you’re welcome). Another trend that was brought back thanks to TikTok, this easy bandana hack gives you all the edge you need to complete your look and helps hide your bad hair days. Giorgio Armani featured patterned silk headscarves that essentially covered the entire head as their beauty statement, and Blumarine screamed 90’s at us with faux denim headscarves paired with big blue translucent sunglasses. Time to start digging through all your childhood accessories!

The beloved lip gloss trend is back. I know, hold your applause. Subtle but always a staple, lip gloss knows how to add a dewy, shiny vibe to your look. Taking over the Milan Fashion Week scene, many designers such as Fendi and Peter Philips looked for inspiration through the 90s and Y2K fashion scenes.
From glitter to headscarves, and my personal favorite- lip gloss, it is clear that Milan Fashion Week definitely killed the beauty game. Seeing these looks always inspires me and lets me know what’s currently trending. Can’t wait to see what hot beauty looks they will be serving next year!
