I’m Levitating Out Of The FTX Arena Thanks To Dua Lipa

Catsuits, disco balls, and ‘80s galore! That’s The Future Nostalgia Tour in a nutshell. Miss Dua Lipa kicked off her world tour after two years of delays on Wednesday, February 9th, at the FTX arena in Miami, Florida, and it was nothing short of pure talent. I don’t know about you, but when going to a concert, my only expectation for the night is to have a great time—whether I know the artist well or only know one song. Going into Dua’s concert, there was no doubt in my mind that it was going to be a hell of a good time.

The Future Nostalgia Tour started the night off strong by introducing all of the backup dancers on the main jumbotron as if they were cast members from a movie; it was definitely the most creative way of honoring and giving her dancers the spotlight they deserve. “Physical” was the first song performed, and it delivered the ‘80s energy the entire FTX arena was craving. The singer came out wearing a head-to-toe highlighter-yellow jumpsuit by Balenciaga, paired with matching elbow-length opera gloves and, to top it all off, diamond-embellished Eéra earrings. She’s kidding, right?! I knew her looks would serve, but I nearly fell back into my seat when I saw her step out in this. What a way to start the night!

The pop star looked like she belonged on that stage as the concert moved along, and it was truly amazing to witness. The setlist consisted of fan favorites like “New Rules,” a song released in 2018 that reached #18 on the Billboard Hot 100, “Love Again,” “Cool,” and my personal favorite, “Pretty Please.” Honestly, the confidence Dua radiated during the “Pretty Please” performance was exactly the energy we all need to emulate for the rest of 2022.

Of course, the second look of the night just HAD to be a custom-made Atelier Versace asymmetric bodysuit because of f*cking course—don’t get it twisted, guys. The bodysuit was adorned with Swarovski crystals and looked like one of those pieces you put on and never want to take off. Dua then sang “We’re Good,” a song featured on Future Nostalgia (The Moonlight Edition). This performance radiated the best island vibes thanks to the unique visuals. Miss Dua was giving luxury mermaid, and the audience was here for it.

Transitioning onto the catwalk portion of the stage, the dancers and our main pop queen of the night delivered a dance break titled “Club Future Nostalgia Medley.” Can we talk about how fun it looks to be a Dua Lipa background dancer, please?! The energy on stage was contagious, to say the least. All the dancers were feeding off of each other, and they genuinely looked like they were having the time of their life. It was really inspiring to watch. But of course, this iconic dance break can’t happen without another outfit change, the singer strutted lingerie-forward ensemble by Marine Serre featuring a pink lace bra under a black skin-tight jacket paired with matching black high-waisted underwear over pink tights emblazoned with the brand’s signature crescent moon motif. The outfit set the tone of her tour excellently.

Miss Dua sent us off with “Levitating,” which had everyone dancing and up on their feet to end the night. This portion of the concert felt like a party that I never wanted to end. With balloons and confetti falling from the ceiling, it felt surreal and like something out of a movie. To top it all off, the singer concluded her wardrobe changes with a custom shimmering, black catsuit by Mugler that featured a beige mesh cutout design. Her dancers were also wearing custom bodysuits by the french fashion house, similar to Dua’s, of course. Um?! I need a WikiHow on becoming a Dua Lipa background dancer ASAP.

Without a doubt, this concert was one for the books. Dua Lipa and her team outdid themselves from the four different looks to the perfect setlist. If you need a nudge to see this main pop girl in concert, who's a Leo btw (hell yes), please don’t think twice about it and go!
