Is Brown the New Black? The Newest Color Trend in Fashion

It seems like whenever a new color comes into style we call it the “new black.” Black is probably one of the most versatile colors in fashion. It is slimming, goes with everything, and you can find it almost anywhere. But it looks like black might have to step aside for the newest color trend flooding the internet: brown.
Brown was a more popular color in the y2k phase of fashion becoming a staple color. However, the color seemed to lose its edge later. Until recently, brown was a color you saw in more basics than in fashion-forward pieces; staple pieces like a pair of khakis you bought for work or everyday sunglasses. Lately brown has been shown to be the kind of color you can wear with everything. People are beginning to style outfits that are completely brown. The style and color combinations are almost endless.
1. Patchwork
A lot of the brown stylings that have become popular are coming from the new patchwork trend. These clothes showcase multiple shades of brown in one piece. Patchwork has started to become trendy again making them easy to find, even on Amazon. The cool thing about brown patchwork is that it could match with almost anything. If you don’t have a darker brown top to pair with the pants, a beige or white top will work perfectly. There are so many different ways to style pieces like this that it can really spice up your wardrobe.
2. The Full Brown Fit
Another common trend using brown is to be fitted in all brown. Whether it is the same or different shades, these fits are taking the street fashion world by storm. I would be lying if I said I didn’t start pinning these exact outfits to add to my wardrobe. These outfits don’t have to be casual either. There are plenty of ways to dress up your brown fit with a brown leather pant, blazer, or even dress. We even have celebrities stepping out on the streets in full brown outfits for their paparazzi pictures and looking snatched doing it. Style icons like Bella Hadid, have caught on to the brown trend and are not letting go.
3. Accessories
Now, I know I said that it is time for brown to shine a little bit more than just the accessories, but everyone needs some good solid pieces that match with everything. Why not go the full mile and complete the brown outfit with some classic brown accessories. These can be styled almost any way. I highly recommend finding some rectangle lens sunglasses or a cute brown hair clip and bag to tie everything together. For other accessories, I would recommend gold jewelry (silver would be fine, but gold is more cohesive with the brown vibes). Overall, with a brown outfit you can really use accessories to your advantage in making the fit all come together.
There are so many different ways to style brown that it makes total sense why this color is finding its back to the top of fashion trends. This color deserves the popularity it is building again. The versatility and minimalism that comes with a color like brown can really create some new looks for you and your wardrobe. Even Vogue said that they are “wearing brown outfits this season”. So I think it is safe to say that brown is most definitely the new black.
