Incoming Emo

With the returning trends of y2k- velour tracksuits, baby tees, trucker hats, and the comeback of grunge, which includes baggy jeans, chunky silver chains, and graphic tees. It's highly possible that emo (or “emocore,” aka emotional hardcore) might be making a comeback.

A large reason for this trend revival is due to Netflix's popular tv show Wednesday, which focuses on the story of Wednesday Addams, a beloved gloomy, witty teen who solves mysteries and attracts hot guys. For such a dark, colorless character she does have a sense of fashion. Wearing dark tone makeup, black platform sneakers, and a vintage sheer black dress.

Wednesday isn’t the only popular emo character that has popped up in the last few years. With the release of Midnight Sun and the announced continuation of the Twilight series, everyone’s favorite swoon-worthy vampire, Edward Cullen, has been mentioned in more than a few TikTok videos this year. In recent years, a fan base for Loki, Thor’s dark, scheming brother in the Marvel universe, has  also largely grown to the point that he even has his own show based solely around his gray character, with a second season on its way.

So, don’t become discouraged or appalled by the upcoming emo “looks”  you might see your favorite celebrities or influencers wearing, there are still some attractive emo styles. There is always the experimental, colorful hair dye, lace chokers with charms, black fishnet tights, and gaudy silver rings.
