Graphic Look Book: My Small Business

When quarantine began, I was looking for a creative outlet and needed something artistic to keep my mind busy. I have always had a passion for designing graphics, and I thought college merchandise was the perfect balance between festive and trendy. I was newly admitted to Florida State and thought I should design and create my own apparel. I went out and purchased a Cricut, which is a machine that allows you to use different materials to iron onto clothes, make stickers, and other creative pieces. After that, the design ideas started flowing. Since then, I’ve started my own small business called NHC Apparel (@nhcapparel), and have designed, made, and sold pieces of college and sorority merchandise to so many of my friends and customers.

This past year, I decided to bring my Cricut with me to school in hopes of designing merchandise for FSU students. When big-little reveal season rolled around in the fall, I was lucky enough to make so many stylish sets for a bunch of really amazing girls.

I recently became part of the graphics team for Her Campus FSU, and my t-shirt design was chosen for this semester's shirt! I am so excited to see all the members of Her Campus walk around wearing my design! My love for fashion, designing, and graphics came together and allowed me to pursue a creative passion project. My favorite part overall is when my customers tell me how much they love what I made them- there truly is nothing better! If you’re ever in a creative funk, start brainstorming, and who knows… maybe you’ll start your own business!
