Drop Dead Gorgeous
It's spooky season and naturally, you've been invited to a party and need a last-minute Halloween costume. Skull makeup is the trend of the season and it is easier to pull off than you'd think. The edgy look makes the perfect costume using products that are already in your beauty collection. So, turn on your favorite Halloween movie classic and prepare to be impressed with your transformation from a normal ghoul to a chilling corpse.
Some beauty products you will need include white and black face paint, concealer, black eyeliner, shimmery eyeshadows, an array of makeup brushes, false lashes, and colored contacts (if you want to take the look to the next level). Translucent powder and setting spray will ensure your deadly complexion doesn't melt away mid-celebration. If some of these products are missing from your collection, you have a perfect excuse for a shopping trip to Sephora! You can make the look as simple or as intricate as you want, it's time to channel your inner beauty guru.
The first step in creating a deadly complexion includes concealer and lots of it. It is best to use a lighter shade and focus on the under-eye areas. Pair with your favorite smoky-eye design to enhance your death-stare. Focus on using dark shades on your lid and crease, then add shadows for intensity.
Finally, the exciting part, as we dip into the black and white face paint. Start by drawing in a teardrop-shaped nose and create an outline of where you want the skeleton to start. To create the sunken-in jaw appearance, use an eyeshadow brush to drag the paint from your cheekbones to the corners of your lips, allowing room to later design teeth. I suggest finishing one side of your face, then switch to the other to make sure the look is symmetrical. Grab an eyeliner brush and make equally spaced lines for the teeth, stretching from cheek to cheek. When the outlines are set, grab the white paint and color in the spaces. Saving the white for last will ensure that the pigment will remain bold and the black won't start to appear gray. Use eyeshadows to darken the spaces between each tooth, where the gums would be (if you were alive). The more details, the bolder the look will become, so put your shadows and liner to work to smooth your appearance and create a hollow contour.
Now its time for the details! Put on those falsies and colored contacts to intensify your appearance. Enhance the skull shadows to make them look more sculpted and realistic. You could even add small jaw cracks on your chin area and touch up with concealer. Last but not least, dust your complexion with translucent powder and pack on the setting spray.
Now the look is officially complete, and you're bone-chilling and ready for all the social media clout. Pair your hard work with your edgiest black outfit and take on the night. It's time to show off your ~ghouly~ side, who knew we could be so spooky and chic all at the same time?
