Corporate Chic is the New Horror at Altuzarra's SS24 show

At every show, Altuzarra leaves a book on the seat for guests, and this season, it was Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levine. With the same name, the horror film directed by Roman Polanski evidently inspired this season's motif. This isn't the first time Altuzarra has dabbled with the cult horror genre. At Altuzarra's SS15 show, they pivoted to a darker ambiance when his models walked to the chilling voice of Mia Farrow in the film.

"The Spring Summer 2024 collection takes inspiration from the French New Wave cinematic movement, which celebrated spontaneity and realism. This collection embraces the beauty found in the everyday, evoking a sense of rawness and vulnerability while paying homage to an era of elegance and liberation where bold shapes and daring lines redefined the boundaries of style," said Joseph Altuzarra about his collection.

Celebs like Jasmine Tookes, Jenny Han, Anna Cathcartt, Lucy Hale, Coco Rocha, Monet McMichael, and Sarita Choudory were spotted during the show. Vogue's editor-at-large, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, was also at the show and was credited as a stylist for the new collection.

The vibes for Altuzarra's SS24 collection were caliginous and cryptic. When models first appeared on the runway, they were concealed by dull lighting, only lit when strutting directly under the spotlights.

The show was held at the New York Public Library, and by taking inspiration from the French New Wave cinematic movement, we were presented with neutrals, clean lines, and feminine, timeless basics; this collection called for cinematic inspiration, unlike his previous seasons.

Nevertheless, similar to many shows this season, there were candid and elemental cuts: satin, leather, and lace amongst the three noted garment materials. Serving looks filled with crushed textures, A-line coats, flats, and bags in red, mustard yellows, and corporate gray. 90s minimalism is an epidemic this season, and Altuzarra has caught the bug.
