Catching Lucky Girl Syndrome

It's never too late to adopt a new mindset in the new year, and this year's mindset is being a lucky girl. Taking over my Tiktok 'For You' page, and probably yours too, the 'Lucky Girl Syndrome; is a manifestation technique using the law of attraction. Essentially, it's the energy of one's thoughts and positive affirmations to attract positive experiences into the user's life. 

With many Tiktok influencers crediting the 'Lucky Girl' mindset for good grades, a job promotion, or even an increase in revenue, it is no surprise the #LuckyGirlSyndrome tag has surpassed 150 million views on Tiktok and has converted many viewers into adopting the perspective in hopes that they will also attract more positivity into their lives. 

Now, you might wonder where to start, and you should begin by creating your 'Lucky Girl' mantra. Like other manifestation techniques, using positive and hopeful language in the present tense is pivotal. 

Here's some inspiration:

I am so lucky. 

Everything works out for me. 

My dreams are coming true. 

I have everything I need.

When saying or writing your mantra in the morning, afternoon, night, in times of stress, or even in moments you feel overwhelmed, it is crucial to remember that manifestation is based on the belief that one can change their life through the way one thinks. So, suppose you believe it's true. In that case, it can be true in your reality, as manifesting can create the sense that one has control over their unpredictable world. 

As you begin to catch the 'Lucky Girl Syndrome', it is important to understand what the concept of "toxic positivity" is, and why it is harmful. The "toxic positivity" mindset is explained by Kendra Cherry in her article, What is Toxic Positivity, and medically reviewed by Rachel Goldman, Ph.D., FTOS, as the idea that no matter the severity or complexity of a situation, one should reject all other emotions and focus solely on positivity. In forcing oneself to maintain an endlessly positive attitude, it can cause one to feel defeated in themself if their positivity were to waver. However, what the 'Lucky Girl Syndrome' does differently is it creates a mindset in which all of one's emotions are valid and utterly normal because sometimes, a bit of pessimism is necessary. So, don't limit yourself!

Another thing to remember as you begin your journey in catching luck is to recognize the bias that comes along with luck. The idea of luck, not to be confused with coincidence, is a random event that can work in favor or against a person, and your luck is influenced by privilege and societal bias. However, the Lucky Girl Syndrome should not be labeled as "delusional thinking," as adopting a more positive outlook on your life can help you from limiting yourself and your abilities, changing that "I can't" idea to "I can." Furthermore, by thinking positively, you might even be able to earn some extra health benefits, such as a decrease in anxiety, a stronger immune system, and even lower blood pressure. 

While becoming a lucky girl can't solve all of your life's problems, catching the Lucky Girl Syndrome can help you grow your confidence in yourself and your abilities through positivity. So, allow yourself to catch some luck.
