Cannabeauty - The Beauty Products You Didn’t Know You Needed

Is it too far-fetched to claim that we’re living through a CBD revolution?

Hear me out, CBD products are everywhere, its endless breadth extending from sparkling water to infused bath bombs. One can even argue that the ingredient’s most successful venture has been in the beauty industry, where product galore has erupted. This unconventional cosmetic ingredient has even charmed Hollywood royalty Kim Kardashian, who hosted a CBD-themed baby shower in 2019. This should come as no surprise considering the American CBD market is expected to topple over $16 billion by 2025. With these soaring projections, CBD’s potential influence in the beauty industry will be an exciting waiting game to witness.

But what is CBD anyway? In condensed terms, CBD is a cannabinoid that’s extracted from the cannabis sativa plant, which is more commonly known as marijuana. Since the passing of CBD’s legality, the enthusiasm surrounding the cannabinoid has transformed cannabis’ image into one of luxurious wellness and beauty. Consumers have become infatuated with the idea of “cannabeauty”.  Research on the effectiveness of CBD is currently still in the infancy stage, but early findings suggest that it has anti-inflammatory properties. This is not the sole enticing characteristic, scientists also believe it helps aid dry skin, acne, hydration, reducing redness, and calming skin conditions.

The plethora of benefits combined with the beauty industry’s zealous attitude has birthed an array of products. Face-masks, beauty serums, mascaras, body lotions -- the options are truly boundless. With so many options on the market already, the current products are just a fraction of the possibilities as people are discovering you can put CBD into anything. Beloved brands like Cannuka, Saint Jane, and Herbivore have also joined the craze, offering moisturizing oils, body bars, and skin balms.

Overwhelmed, confused, but optimistically curious were the words that described my initial journey into the world of “cannabeauty”. I can unequivocally claim that I’m a proud advocate for the use of CBD, but it took trial and error runs with various products to identify the products that secured my loyalty. To ease the daunting task of choosing an ideal product, I’ve listed two of my favorite products from my go-to CBD store to help in the creation of your product collection.

FULL SPECTRUM HEMP HEALING LIP BALM ($4.20)

The product that kick-started my love affair with Franny's is their Full Spectrum Hemp Healing Lip Balm. Not only is it affordable, but it's packed with CBD-infused benefits that will be a great starter product for newbies. And who doesn’t adore a concoction consisting of essential oils and shea butter?

HEMP OIL SOAP ($8.49)

This is an exemplary soap that aids in soothing irritated skin while simultaneously reducing inflammation. Franny’s Hemp Oil Soaps, more specifically their Serenity bar, leaves me feeling hydrated. I have constituted this product as an essential in my daily beauty regimen.

In such an evolving culture, staying relevant in the beauty industry is a challenging engagement. If I had to guess, CBD is here to stay -- and possibly disrupt the image of conventional beauty products.
