All It’s Croc-ed Up To Be

In recent years, Crocs have grown in popularity and become a staple piece in the closets of people from all different walks of life. Their comfortable yet functional design has allowed many to look past their big, bulky physical appearance and transform them into a trendy product that can appeal to anyone. Although crocs originated as boating shoes, they’ve become a huge trend in fashion all across the nation due to their comfortability, lightweight design, functionality, and even just their comedic value.

Crocs have become a major part of the meme world, and perhaps their growth in popularity majorly stems from the fact that they are so absurd and comical that you can’t help but love them. Crocs are the shoes people love to hate. The obnoxiously bright colors and bulky shape that drive some people away from the product are exactly what makes it appealing to others.

Even the official Crocs brand itself has fully embraced the comedic value of their product. Their social media accounts feature memes and creative ways of advertising their products through comedy. Some of their recent posts include a bride wearing Crocs at her wedding, a collection of Valentines-related Croc memes, and a chart titled “Your Birthstone But Crocs.”

This trend has reached new heights as developers have taken their own creative spin on the original design. Using comedic aspects, Crocs have evolved to cater to Gen Z buyers. This has led to the invention of Croc heels, Croc gloves, Croc boots, and even custom Crocs with Nicholas Cage’s face on them. Many brands and celebrities have even started doing collaborations with Crocs, such as Balenciaga, Justin Bieber, and Post Malone.

Along with being durable, comfortable, and convenient, Crocs allow for lots of creativity and self-expression. Jibbitz are plastic charms that fit inside the Croc holes used to personalize the shoes. They come in letters, animals, popular characters, food, and a variety of other styles. You can also buy custom Jibbitz online in everything from a personalized picture of your dog’s face to Pepe the frog meme.

“Glamor Crocs” have risen in popularity as people decorate their Crocs with jewels, glitter, brand names such as Louis Vuitton, strands of beads, chains, and even custom paintings. If you can dream it, someone on the Internet can design it on a Croc.

Whether you’re sporting your camo-Crocs for a day out on the boat or wearing your Balenciaga-heeled Crocs out to dinner, you’re partaking in a comfortable and functional fashion trend that’s sure to draw some attention. Now that Crocs are once again a socially-acceptable way of living and a popular fashion trend, we can all live in a bit more comfort and style.
